A little bit about me

My Love for Clay

Working with clay has been a passion of mine since the very first time I touched it. Every piece begins by bringing together the four elements—earth, water, air, and fire—to create one-of-a-kind functional ceramics in my Colchester, Vermont studio.

For more than a decade, I volunteered at the Burlington City Arts Clay Studio, where I enjoyed being part of a vibrant community of artists. I loved every step of the creative process, from forming a piece on the wheel to unloading it from the kiln. That experience deepened both my technical skills and my appreciation for the joy of making alongside others.

Teaching has become one of the most rewarding parts of my ceramics journey. I love helping students discover the possibilities of clay, encouraging them to explore their creativity, build confidence, and create work that brings them joy. Watching someone fall in love with clay for the first time is every bit as rewarding as making my own work.

I enjoy exploring many different ceramic techniques, from throwing on the pottery wheel to handbuilding with slabs and shaping pinch pots into flowers, animals, and whimsical forms. Much of my work is hand-painted with underglazes—a process that requires patience and many hours of careful brushwork. It has become a meditative practice for me, and every brushstroke is time well spent.

Texture and history also play an important role in my work. I often press clay into reclaimed Vermont barn boards, capturing the beautiful grain, knots, and imperfections left behind by time. Those natural patterns inspire many of my signature pieces, including bowls and platters that evoke the moon rising over a quiet Vermont lake.

I've called Vermont home since 1993, where my husband and I raised our two wonderful children, who are now off on their own adventures but still love returning to the peace and beauty of home. Our two entertaining cats, Mae and Bowie, are constant studio companions and frequently make appearances on my Instagram page, bringing a little extra joy to each day.
